Whether it’s for private or commercial use, cargo bikes are bang on trend, which means they are also once again central to EUROBIKE. A large range of new models, mostly e-powered, have made the cargo bike into a practical, affordable and stylish alternative form of transport – and they’re fun to ride as well.
Situated somewhere between the classic bicycle and the car, the cargo bike fills a gap that in our age of congested cities and the threatened banning of diesel vehicles offers great potential for the transport turnaround. That is why all over Europe, communities and states are introducing bonus programmes for those buying cargo bikes. And demand is high: in the state of Baden-Württemberg, twice as many grant applications for commercial e-cargo bikes were received as for e-cars (Source: www.cargobike.jetzt). In March 2018, Germany’s government also approved a purchase bonus for commercial heavy-goods cargo bikes that can carry loads of over 150 kilograms, such as are increasingly being used for parcel deliveries (Source: www.cargobike.jetzt).
For personal, everyday use, the new compact cargo bikes are an
exciting development. Three-wheel models with tilt technology and cargo-bike
sharing continue to make advances. In 2018 the trade show presented the diversity
and dynamism of these bicycles for the first time in a dedicated zone. In 2019,
the Cargo Area will once again be featuring the latest models and trends.
