The following criteria will be taken into account in particular in the evaluation process: Aerodynamics, Efficiency, Ergonomics, Functionality, Weight, Utility, Design Quality, Degree of Innovation, Comfort, Load-Carrying Capacity, Brand Value/Branding, Choice of Material, Service, Safety, Stability, Environmental Compatibility and Workmanship.

“E-bikes were at the top of the list as far as the topic of mobility was concerned. An encouraging development with lots of potential for innovative products. There’s still room for improvement in technology and design.”
Nils Holger Moormann (designer, Aschau am Chiemsee/Germany)

“The quality of the products entered is very high. Unfortunately, the topic of ‘green’ fell a bit short this year. There just weren’t any really outstanding entries in this field.”
Rodrick de Munnik (editor at Fiets/FietsActief and Procycling Magazin, Hoofddorp/Netherlands)

“This is the first time that I acted as a judge at a competition like this. It was a great experience. Working together with the other members of the jury was also a lot of fun. Every one of them was an expert in a different area so that they all saw the entries from different points of view. Some of the design was really remarkable. But I’m sorry to say that I didn’t find any real highlights in the Parts category.”
Sabine Spitz (Olympic champion/world champion professional mountain biker, Murg/Germany)

“The diversity of the products entered is just huge and the quality is, as a rule, quite high. The number of e-bikes among the entries has increased considerably. I believe that the trend is moving in the direction of ‘other uses’ – for folding and compact bikes with electrical support, for example, and for carrier bikes with motors. Unfortunately, good products that are already available on the market were not among the entries.”
Michael Bollschweiler (editor at RadMarkt, Bielefeld/Germany)

“Because of the great market demand, I was surprised that virtually no eco-products/products with high ecological and sustainable value were among the entries. The variety of bikes entered was good – there was everything you could think of – from sports bikes to carrier bikes.”
Alexander Kauroff-Vergin (Globetrotter Ausrüstung Denart & Lechhart GmbH, Cologne/Germany)

“The entries reflected the wide diversity in the bicycle industry. Many clever, but also sometimes “crazy” ideas – a good overall picture. There was everything from high-tech solutions to charming ideas that were implemented with the use of few materials but lots of passion. Many of the products entered came from wonderful enthusiasts. How disappointing that there were no products at all that focused specifically on the aspects of sustainability and environmental friendliness. This is a sector in which we expect the bicycle industry to be an innovator!”
Felix Böhlken (editor at RoadBIKE, Stuttgart/Germany)
