GREEN COMPOUND (Road Cruiser)
Cycling greener with Schwalbe
|Award||GREEN WINNER 2017|
Schwalbe is giving its best-selling Road Cruiser a “green update” with the new Green Compound. The tread compound consists largely of natural rubber that comes from sustainably-farmed rubber trees, as well as recycled rubber materials such as rubber gloves or door seals. This means that Schwalbe uses much less energy and fewer raw materials during rubber production. Retreading also resulted in a dynamic new profile with pronounced central tread and a grippy shoulder. After Green Guard puncture protection and inner tube recycling, Green Compound is the third milestone in Schwalbe’s journey towards sustainable production of tires and inner tubes.
With its Green Compound Schwalbe is setting a new standard in the use of recycled materials. It’s an important step towards sustainability, if existing products that are used thousands of times over, can be produced in a greener and more environmentally friendly way. Even used rubber gloves and door seals are now enjoying a new lease of life as bicycle tyres.
