TRAVEL TALK Congress

Flowtrail Stromberg – a route for everyone

Thomas Kleinjohann, DIMB e.V. und Jutta Kleeberg, Radsport Stromberg, www.flowtrail-stromberg.de

The term flowtrail stands for an artificial cycle track that, due to its wavy course, allows a flowing and fast cycling style without any abrupt braking. These paths, that often run alongside heavily frequented but well cared for main tracks, ensure that ecological damage is kept to a minimum by guiding the bikers and avoiding conflicts with other forest users. The well-thought out navigation also offers various optional tracks for experienced or not quite so experienced bikers, so that everybody can select his or her own maximum fun factor and keep the risks to a minimum. Thomas Kleinjohann and Jutta Kleeberg show the advantages of this concept and provide information on the background and target groups.

DIMB e.V. is an organisation that represents the interests of cyclists in Germany: mountain bikers, tour cyclists, family bikers, racers, free riders, down hillers or dirt bikers. The focus of their work is on conservation and a balance of interests between bikers, conservationists and anyone else who wants to enjoy mother nature. The key motto is “Open Trails“ – how bikers can use the tracks and paths on an unlimited basis as long as this is compatible with conservation guidelines and socially acceptable. As the Chairman of DIMB and the track legalizer, Thomas Kleinjohann played an important part in developing and realising the new flowtrail concept in Stromberg.

Jutta Kleeberg
Jutta Kleeberg was the initiator and trail-blazer for the flowtrail in Stromberg and the driving force in the planning team when it came to realisation.
