New additions to the most sustainable Green Shape Core Collection Summer 2019
The Green Shape Core Collection — the heart of VAUDE's sustainable product development — is entering its second round in summer 2019. VAUDE began a new chapter in eco-friendly outdoor apparel with its thoroughly sustainable collection featuring innovative and exclusive developments in materials. This award-winning, versatile collection covers a broad range of outdoor activities and has been so successful that it is being expanded for the summer 2019 season. The new summer styles with high performance materials are designed for a variety of bike activities while the multiuse concept continues to play a central role.
As a pioneer in sustainable outdoor gear, VAUDE is launching a Summer Collection for the Green Shape Core Collection that includes a 14-piece multiuse collection of clothing, backpacks, accessories and a sleeping bag. All products are designed for a wide range of outdoor activities and embody the ecological and social values of VAUDE and all that motivates the brand at its core. They also feature unique and cutting-edge designs that combine performance with a feel-good factor for a long service life. The collection is an uncompromising and trendsetting tribute to VAUDE performance and embodies the company’s commitment to sustainability — about 90 % of the textile materials used are biobased, recycled or pure natural materials. Compared to the Winter Collection, the Green Shape Core Collection has a stronger focus on a wide range of summer biking activities. Because, aside from your own two feet, biking is the most eco-friendly form of transport there is.
The collection has been supplemented with new summer bike styles in the form of a windbreaker, long-sleeved jerseys and technical shorts for men and women as well as a headband. In addition, a new sleeping bag fill was developed made from natural kapok fiber and PrimaLoft®. Other items include the Green Core Fleece Jacket from the Winter Collection, (with biodegradable TENCEL® fleece), the Green Core T-shirts, two backpacks and a pair of multisport tights.
With the Green Shape Core Collection, VAUDE is pursuing the key concept of the innovative and sustainable development of outdoor gear and was once again able to bring some exclusive new materials to its Summer Collection. A fabric made from natural kapok fibers with recycled polyester is now being used for the first time. VAUDE is also using a novel blend of merino wool and recycled polyamide, as well as a Pertex lining made from recycled polyester. In addition, the material innovations known from the Winter Collection continue to be used in the new products.

An overview of the new products in the Green Shape Core Collection Summer 2019:
Green Core Windbreaker
The flagship of our ecological wind jackets scores with low weight and versatility for biking, hiking and everyday life. Stretch inserts at the sides give the lightweight windbreaker a high degree of freedom of movement. Can also be conveniently stowed in a small bag with an integrated belt so you’ll always have it at hand when you need it. The water-repellent primary material at the front and on the upper arms consists of EcoPaXX® a biobased nylon derived from castor oil. The zip is also made of this bioplastic. At the torso and sleeves, a wind resistant, lightweight outer fabric serves as wind protection.
Women’s / Men’s Green Core Tech Shorts
The casual Green Core Tech shorts are breathable, windproof and also make a statement in terms of an active, sustainable lifestyle. Ventilation ensures a good microclimate, while reflective elements ensure better visibility in low light conditions. An integrated belt, practical pockets and an extra phone pocket round off the functional Green Core Tec shorts. The primary material consists of biobased EcoPaXX®, likewise the buckles and zips. The bike specific stretch inserts on the back are made from Econyl®, a recycled polyamide partially made from used fishing nets.
Women's / Men’s Green Core Jersey
With the development of this innovative, sustainable jersey for fashion forward, eco-conscious bike and outdoor enthusiasts, VAUDE offers outstanding functional properties intelligently combined with a variety of materials. The jersey offers excellent moisture management, dries quickly and features exceptional durability. The primary material used is a high-quality wool knit made of 61 % finest merino wool and 39 % recycled polyamide. For the highly breathable side inserts, recycled polyester from recycled PET bottles with kapok fibers was processed into an innovative yarn. Due to the short structure of the kapok fiber, the production of this yarn is extremely complex and therefore an outstanding special feature of the Collection. The zip consists of the plastic EcoPaXX®, which is made of 70 % castor-oil and was already used in the Winter 18/19 Green Shape Core Collection.
Green Core Headband
The Green Core Headband unites finest merino wool with the innovative TENCEL® fiber made from wood cellulose for optimal temperature control. It is an absolute allrounder for sports and daily life with production methods that conserve the planet’s resources using renewable raw materials.
Sleeping bag — Green Core Altmann 400 SYN
The new hybrid sleeping bag Green Core Altmann 400 SYN stands out not least due to its natural and unique appearance and its functional versatility. Whether used as a quilt, poncho, sleeping bag or blanket, the Green Core Altmann 400 SYN shines with maximum flexibility and sustainable production. A natural kapok fiber combined with PrimaLoft® made from recycled polyester (PrimaLoft® Silver Insulation Natural Blend) was used for the fill, which offers natural moisture management and good thermal insulation. The outer material consists of recycled polyamide, all zips and trims consist of biobased EcoPaXX® and the Pertex lining from recycled polyester. With the development of the Green Core sleeping bag, the extremely sustainable standards of the Green Shape Core Collection are transferred to the product range of tents, sleeping bags and accessories for the first time.
