While studying sport, culture and event management at the University of Applied Sciences in Kufstein, Martin Baumann worked as a mountain and road bike guide in Austria, Italy and Spain. Since completing his Master’s dissertation on the subject of “Booking behaviour of mountain bike tourists + influence of brands on purchasing behaviour”, Baumann has been working as a project manager for “Mountain Bike Holidays” and “Roadbike Holidays”.
Alpine road bike tourism is facing
major challenges. Southern destinations such as Majorca, Tuscany, the Canaries
are becoming more and more popular.
How can the Alpine destinations
away from the Tour de France region position themselves and benefit in the long
run from the road bike boom throughout European countries.
"Roadbike Holidays" appeals to individual road bike guests in precisely these regions and, in doing so, employs strict market segmentation. Our strategy is used to illustrate chances and opportunities for road bike regions to successfully position themselves within the Alpine region.
