Digitalization as an opportunity and existential challenge for brick-and-mortar retail
Retail – driven by digitalization and changing customer behavior – faces profound changes. Classic sales strategies only work up to a point, and traditional business models create less value for customers compared with online channels. This presents brick-and-mortar retail outlets with crucial questions around design, identity and function.
Stefan Wolpert has been working with the Fraunhofer SCS in Nuremberg since 2011. The qualified business manager and business information systems specialist (BA) studied in Nuremberg, Shanghai, London and Heidenheim. The focus of his work is on technology-supported services for the retail industry. He is also responsible for Retail Science at the Fraunhofer SCS.
